Social and other activities!
In the course of its existence, the House Group has already shown social commitment in a variety of ways to the benefit of the local street. For example, they support a Christian neighbourhood shop in the next street which belongs to another organisation. Although widely differing political views are represented amongst the House Group members, they have participated together in demonstrations and political discussions.
Together, they have repeatedly taken initiative to clean up playgrounds and other parts of the local street. A well functioning family in the house group, who are specially gifted for this and have won people’s trust, offers child care advice to local residents and counselling with family problems. Another member regularly visits a sick couple in the street.
Besides this, there is an almost innumerable variety of small activities, such as taking turns looking after each other’s children, helping each other out with transport, and practical neighbourhood support in form of clothing, money and simply taking an interest in each other.
If questioned, the members would respond to the effect that this commitment, which is rooted in the common experience of Christian faith and fellowship in the house group, is simply natural.
