We would like to invite you to share with us in prayer and through practical contributions to bring to fruition a Christian communal vision for Berlin.

Start Situation and Motivation

From a spiritual point of view, Berlin is comparable to an underdeveloped country. There are less than one percent born again Christians in Berlin. In Germany, there is less civic commitment and sense of social responsibility on a private level than e.g. in the USA, as these concerns are seen first and foremost as part of the responsibility of government institutions.

It is our desire to build bridges of prayer and ministry which will enable an exchange to take place between Berlin and other countries so that the respective needs of each partner will be met. In this way, spiritually developed countries such as India or the USA will initiate a missionary cycle which strongly diverges from the traditional understanding of missionary movements. Inmeinerstrasse.de (which means “in my street”) endeavours to start building such a bridge pier at the local level.

Many people in Berlin have a desire for fellowship with people in their vicinity and for real spiritual experiences. We want to create situations within the limited scope of our immediate neighbourhoods and the streets we live in which will allow for the development of Christian fellowship in cell groups. As people share in Christian fellowship amongst each other and with Jesus, neighbourhood networks will come into being changing more and more peoples’ lives. At first these people will find a relationship to God and experience inner healing. As a consequence, the social climate will change and also peoples’ social awareness, so that they take on more and more responsibility for their own life and for their surroundings. Thus the sense of civic responsibility will be strengthened in Berlin.

This is why there should be a cell group in every street in Berlin with people who take responsibility for their own street as a consequence of their living relationship to Jesus and who also experience inner healing themselves!
